We are what God wants!
That could be the whole list for Thanksgiving right there! There’s plenty enough to give thanks for and over in that astounding, astonishing truth! But there’s so much more in it as well! A whole Bible’s worth, actually!
Because God wants us So Much that He sacrificed the life of His only Son to get us!
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. ~ John 3:16
And we need to get this, sisters and brothers! If we really got this, understood this in our hearts and the core of our being ~ if this amazing, astounding, world-rocking, earth-shaking Truth was truly rooted in our hearts, our lives would never be the same and our world around us would never be the same!
For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.
Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin. Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. ~ Hebrews 4:12-16
For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities ~ all things have been created through Him and for Him.
He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything.
For it was the Father’s good pleasure for all the fullness to dwell in Him, and through Him to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through the blood of His cross; through Him whether things on earth or things in heaven.
And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet He has now reconciled you in His fleshly body through death, in order to present you before Him holy and blameless and beyond reproach…
~ Colossians 1:13-21
Who is like You among the gods, O Lord?
Who is like You, majestic in holiness,
Awesome in praises, working wonders?
~ Exodus 15:11
There is none like the God of Jeshurun,
Who rides the heavens to your help,
And through the skies in His majesty.
The eternal God is your refuge,
And underneath are the everlasting arms;
He will thrust out the enemy from before you…
~ Deuteronomy 33:26-27
There is no one holy like the Lord,
Indeed, there is no one besides You,
Nor is there any rock like our God.
~ 1 Samuel 2:2
For this reason You are great, O Lord God;
for there is none like You, and there is no God besides You,
according to all that we have heard with our ears.
~ 2 Sam. 7:22
In the same way, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents. ~ Luke 15:10
Through Him then, let us continually offer up the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to His name. ~ Hebrews 13:15
