And Jesus said, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And parting his garments among them, they cast lots. And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also scoffed at him, saying, “He saved others; let him save himself, if this is the Christ of God, his chosen.” (Luke 23:34-35 American Standard Version)
The path~~~*1
Up Calv’ry’s mountain, one dreadful morn,
Walked Christ my Savior, weary and worn;
Facing for sinners death on the cross,
That He might save them from endless loss.
My view~~~
Blessed Redeemer! Precious Redeemer!
Seems now I see Him on Calvary’s tree;
Wounded and bleeding, for sinners pleading,
Blind and unheeding ~ dying for me!
His prayer~~~
“Father forgive them!” thus did He pray,
His sacrifice~~~
E’en while His lifeblood flowed fast away;
For me (and you) ~~~
Praying for sinners while in such woe ~
No one but Jesus ever loved so.
My salvation~~~
Oh, how I love Him, Savior and Friend,
My Adoration~~~
How can my praises ever find end!
Through years unnumbered on heaven’s shore,
My tongue shall praise Him forevermore.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This refrain rings in my heart~~~*2
Up from the grave he arose; with a mighty triumph o’er his foes;
He arose a victor from the dark domain,
and he lives forever, with his saints to reign.
He arose! He arose! Hallelujah! Christ arose!
My new song~~~
When he had taken the book, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders prostrated themselves before the Lamb. Each of them had a harp, and they had golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. They sang a new song and these are the words they sang, “You are worthy to take the scroll, and to open its seals; for you were slain, and have redeemed us to God by your blood out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, and have made us kings and priests to our God; and we shall reign on the earth.” Revelations 5:8-10 J.B. Phillips New Testament
