Dear friends ~ today, I just want us to remember this: there is no storm in our lives that will ever be bigger than our God.
When the hard circumstances come along ~ when we feel pulled and pushed, overwhelmed by things happening around us… when we are soaked to the bone with sorrow and weary with the struggle to keep going ~ these are real reactions to real problems. It doesn’t do a bit of good to think that we will never struggle and never deal with tossed-about emotions.
Because storms will come… and we need to know Who we believe when they do. We must determine in our hearts that we will not choose to believe our fear or our emotions. We must choose to not believe the voice of the enemy which will say that God does not care about what might happen to us, that He is unable to save us, that we are on our own.
Even while we are sea-sick and waves are towering, we always have hope. We can feel shaken, but know that we are held steadfast in the arms of One who will never be shaken. When those emotions fill our lives, Jesus ~ our High Priest ~ who prays for us, understands every one of them. We must believe our God, who says ~ “Nothing is impossible for Me.” (Mark 10:27) We must believe our God, who says “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you. For I am the Lord your God, The Holy One of Israel, your Savior.” (Isaiah 43) We must believe Him, our God who assures us that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28)
May we believe His love, His power, His authority, His ability to redeem and restore everything in our lives. May we know Who He is ~ may we know Him ~ and have peace in the middle of even the fiercest storm.
When He got into a boat, His disciples followed Him. And suddenly a great tempest arose on the sea, so that the boat was covered with the waves. But He was asleep. Then His disciples came to Him and awoke Him, saying, “Lord, save us! We are perishing!” (Mark’s account adds this piece of the conversation – do You not care that we are perishing?)
But He said to them, “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. So the men marveled, saying, “Who can this be, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?”
