Mary’s Song ~ A Gift To Us

This good news foretold in days of old became Truth.

This is epic.
This is history.
This is personal.
This is Truth…

So, this girl, a young girl ~a virgin ~ had a visitation.  This, a startling and confusing occurrence!  Moreover, it was delivered by Gabriel, an angel.  The sentinel of God brought a special God message to her.  He appeared in the Galilean village of Nazareth to talk with the one who was engaged to be married to a man descended from David.  His name was Joseph, and her name, the virgin’s name, Mary.

Upon entering, Gabriel greeted her:
“Good morning!
You’re beautiful with God’s beauty,
Beautiful inside and out!
God be with you.”

By now she was thoroughly shaken by the being and by the greeting.  But, the angel assured her, “Mary, you have nothing to fear.  God has a surprise for you: You will become pregnant and give birth to a son and call his name Jesus.”  Quick, factual, and life-changing for Mary, for the world.

Mary’s question, “But how, I am just an unwed girl.”
Gabriel’s answer, “With God nothing is impossible!”
Mary’s reply, “Oh, let it happen just as you said.”
Gabriel left and she had time to ponder these things.

After time passed the truth settled in, and the song hidden in Mary’s heart broke free.

“I’m bursting with God-news;
I’m dancing the song of my Savior God.
God took one good look at me, and look what happened ~
I’m the most fortunate woman on earth!
What God has done for me will never be forgotten,
the God whose very name is holy, set apart from all others.
His mercy flows in wave after wave
on those who are in awe before Him.”

She sang on exuberantly, yet humbly, not knowing her heart and soul would be tried and proved.  It would be wounded, healed, and ultimately saved by the very Joy she would bear.  Her praises rang to the sky in worship and trust, passing through days, nights and centuries they arrived wrapped in Holy Scripture ~ a gift for us ~ bringing strength for our day, and sure hope in God’s promises for now and forever.

God’s timing intersected with Mary’s time and in due time:

Our special Promise was delivered! Oh, come ~ let us adore Him ~ Jesus Christ the Lord!

The beginning…
