The Year of Finding Lost Things

(after Luke 4)

These are the days of the weak,
the lowly, the oppressed
defying their chains,

captivity taken captive.

These are the days of the broken,
the rejected, the dismissed
holding heads high,

shame scorned to silence.

These are the days of the hungry,
the broken, the poor
holding out full hands,

need in want of nothing.

These are the days of the unclean,
the forgotten, the unwanted
waking up loved,

fear sent fleeing.

These are the days of the walking-Word,
the carpenter-King, the living Bread
breaking for freedom,
lies losing their voice.

These are the days He said
I will rise, and He did,
leaving no one behind

but death buried in His grave.
