Not to us, Lord, not to us
but to Your name be the glory,
because of Your love and faithfulness.
~ Psalm 115:1
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the promises of God. I’ve been thinking about who He declares Himself to be in His word… and who He declares us to be in Him.
Because how we live ~ how we think, act, feel ~ it all connects directly to what we truly believe about God. And when we begin to dare to believe Him, when we are brave and take those faith-steps into His plans instead of our own? I believe that our hearts ~ and our lives ~ begin to change.
If all goes as planned, we are going to take a longer look at who we are called to be in Christ Jesus… we will witness, together, the difference between the disciples before and after the resurrection of Jesus, before and after the gift of the Holy Spirit was given. We will recall what Jesus said about us, those who would believe on His name and go into all the world for His purpose.
But for today, I want to let this heart just quiet down… I want to be still and know that He is God. May we takes some time away from everything else to look only at Him ~ the God who calls us to Himself ~ so that we are reminded of how great He is, how exalted, how worthy of the praise from our yielded hearts. He is the One who promises to never forsake us, the One whose love is forever-sure. May our faith be firmly rooted in who He is… and knowing we can trust Him, may we gladly ~ freely and victoriously ~ follow Him wherever He leads.
I will exalt you, my God the King;
I will praise Your name for ever and ever.
Every day I will praise You and
extol Your name for ever and ever.
Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise;
His greatness no one can fathom…
the Lord is gracious and compassionate,
slow to anger and rich in love.
The Lord is good to all;
He has compassion on all He has made.
All Your works praise You, Lord;
Your faithful people extol You.
They tell of the glory of Your kingdom
and speak of Your might,
so that all people may know of Your mighty acts
and the glorious splendor of Your kingdom.
Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,
and Your dominion endures through all generations.
The Lord is trustworthy in all He promises
and faithful in all He does…
the Lord is righteous in all His ways
and faithful in all He does.
The Lord is near to all who call on Him,
to all who call on Him in truth.
