Fully open moment here, brought to you in real time: one of the battles I have had to often fight is against the voice of the enemy that says I have nothing to offer the world, that I don’t have purpose, that I am not able to contribute anything good to the kingdom or to my community, that I am wholly inadequate. That voice has been annoyingly persistent lately and I am really struggling with it today.
So here’s what I am doing ~ bringing you in on how I fight back. Because no matter what lies are being whispered your way or my way, they are empty and do not change the truth.
Here’s where I find my reality ~ not in my feelings or the war cries of the enemy who has already been defeated ~ but in the Words of Life and Truth.
The word of God says this in the book of Ephesians ~ For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.
God says there is a design, a plan, and good things for us to do in His name.
Philippians says He who has begun a good work in us will complete it.
2 Timothy says we have the spirit of power and love and sound mind.
Romans 1 says we have both received the generous gift of His life and the urgent task of passing it onto others…
And 2 Corinthians says we are epistles of Christ… NOT sufficient in ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God Himself, who makes us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant… this covenant that is of the Spirit that gives LIFE.
And these are just a FEW of the multitudes of words God gives us through Scripture that tells us we are chosen, appointed, purposed, called, equipped for what He has planned by His own Spirit, and LOVED above all.
So this is how I fight my battles ~ I choose to believe what God says. I find His truth and I dig my heels into the foundation of His eternal, unfailing promises.
Our feelings may falter and the voice of the enemy may roar, but we have the Sword of the Spirit in hand and victory already won for us.
Therefore, since we have such hope, we use great boldness of speech…
