What Would Jesus Say?

If I were sitting next to Jesus on my sofa, I have to wonder what He would talk about.  Would He recall my sin and shame, my failures and troublesome past?  Think about it for a moment.  The answer you come up with reflects much about what you actually believe about Him.  If you believe He would berate and belittle you by reminding you of your awful past sins then you are very much misguided.

What WOULD Jesus say?  He might say, “My child you are the most beautiful creation to me.  I love you so very much, enough to have given my only child to die in your place.  There is no love greater than the love I have for you.  Your past has been wiped clean and you are a new creation.  If you could only see yourself the way I see you, it would change your whole life.”

In response you might recall what He has already told you through His Word, “You are my strength and guide, my refuge, my ever present help in times of trouble, You are my shepherd that guides me all my days; You are my Savior; You are my peace in times of anxiety.  You are the lover of my soul and the lifter of my head, and You are the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end.”  I believe by this time you will be on your face before Him in worship.

Imagine this scene with me and see Jesus lift your face so you are looking Him squarely in His eyes.  He holds your face and kisses your cheek.  Taking your hand He helps you up and sits you down beside him on the sofa again.  He puts His arm around you and pulls you in close to His side.  Go ahead, lay your head on His shoulder and let His great love envelop your whole being.  Do you feel the perfect rest and relief, the peace and the hope He gives?

This really isn’t imaginary at all.  It’s as real as it gets.  Every day Jesus dwells in you is a day that He tells you who you are and Whose you are.  Maybe you don’t hear Him because you are focused on life, but never the less He is speaking boldly and clearly to your heart every moment of every day.

As far as your response to Him, well it truly would be this way if you only believed what He is telling you about yourself.  Your confidence would be in His truth and you would KNOW without a doubt He is who He says He is.  Praise and worship would naturally be a part of your daily life.

He truly is sitting with you, holding you, giving you the strength to live one more day and as you snuggle into Him just rest and let Jesus live life through you. (Galatians 2:0) There is no better way.
