Fear is one of those masks we wear, but we wear it invisibly. No one wants to admit to being afraid. Admitting fear means weakness. Right? No admitting fear means HUMAN. Everyone has fear, but not everyone lives enslaved to it. Fear can be a stronghold and will keep us captive in our everyday lives. A stronghold will take us to places we thought we’d never go ~ depression, anxiety, and addiction just to name a few.
Some of us have fears we’d never want anyone to know about, so we suffer alone in silence faking happiness. At this point the enemy has us right where he wants us. In fact he most likely gave us that fear in the first place. And it was this fear that led us to that place of pride that says, “No one can know about this. What would they think?” It’s when we try to hide our true selves from God and others that life becomes so hard. We have to put up a front that we are someone we really aren’t and the lie must continue until it plays itself out.
Sharing about what we worry about helps us through the process of finding a way to deal with things. Talking it out and helping each other carry one another’s burdens is the way God planned it all along. (Galatians 6:2) However, if we don’t share we can’t start. Healing takes place when we let the built up worry and anxiety pour out. After all it’s going to come out one way or the other, whether it be in a healthy way or unhealthy manner such as physical, mental, emotional or spiritual stress. So go ahead and tell a friend, a spouse, a counselor, a loved one ~ tell your Heavenly Father.
1 John 4:18 so beautifully tells us “perfect love drives out fear.” The only perfect love is God’s love. His love in you, which is Christ in you, is absolutely perfect, healing, consoling, and empowering. His love in you can and will take that fear away. How? Ask Him. We have been given the awesome privilege of being able to approach our Father anytime, anywhere, about anything. (Hebrews 4:16)
Pray Scripture: Talk to Him
Father, Your Word tells me perfect love drives out fear. I believe You, so I need You to drive this fear away, uproot it from my soul and get rid of it as only You can. I do not want this fear to be a stronghold in my life, controlling my thoughts and actions so please rip it from my life. Make it crystal clear to me who I am in Christ Jesus so I can walk confidently in Him daily.
Father, Your Word tells me that You do not give me a spirit of fear, but of love, power, and a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7) So when I fear I know it has not come from You. I call on You to take this spirit of fear out of me and empower me with Your love, power, and a sound mind. I know You have given me more power through Your Holy Spirit than I will ever realize, but let the faith in me arise so I will walk in the knowledge of that truth and of Your mighty powerful love in me and for me. In Jesus Name, Amen.
A prayer does not have to be long and wordy. I t can be, if that’s what you want, but God doesn’t require it be that way. He just wants to hear your heart. Simple prayer is simple conversation with God. Don’t make it complicated. Just talk to Him.
Fear is easy to hide, but hard to live with isn’t it? Admit fear, bring it to the One who can drive it out and throw it down, so the Real You can shine through to the world!
Yes, there is a perfect love and it is found in Jesus! Take it. You can’t afford to live another day without a love that casts out all fear.
If you want a personal relationship with Jesus like the one I’ve described above just know God loves you already and He is waiting for you with arms open wide. Just take the gift of love He gives to you through His Son Jesus and believe. (John 3:16, Roman 10:9-10)
