Counting on His Faithfulness

by Monica Leija on 04-18-2011 at 07:38 PM
A book is usually chunked across the room when Christian, 2 years old, doesn’t want to read a certain book. He’ll take a look at it and then yell, “NO!” and the book, no fault of its own goes flying through the air landing with a hard crash. Give Christian a book he wants to read and he’ll take his time with it and carefully look at every page but books beware if Christian is in no mood to read you!

Christian (name changed to protect privacy) is one of the foster children that I

Simply Better

by Monica Leija on 04-15-2011 at 03:49 PM
This morning I was reading someone’s Facebook status in which the person stated how wonderful her life is and listed all the “wonderfuls” in her life and for a split of a second I looked at that list and thought I only have one of those “wonderfuls”. The King Still Sits on His Throne

by Monica Leija on 04-13-2011 at 08:22 PM
I confess that I had a bad attitude about babies. I used to think that at best all babies did was sleep, poop, burp, eat, cry and not bring anything to the table and while that is mostly true my life has been deeply impacted by these tiny creatures called babies and toddlers.

A few months ago I filled out an application to volunteer with Casa de Esperanza (House of Hope). It’s an organization that cares for foster children, ages birth through six years old. I got accepted and went

Single or Married...None but Jesus

by Monica Leija on 04-11-2011 at 05:05 PM
The stunning bride rides in a fairytale horse carriage and is escorted down from the carriage and walked down the grassy aisle to meet her expectant groom. The setting – breath taking. Weather perfect. Scenery - lake and trees that were picturesque.

A few weeks ago I attended the wedding of dear friends. It had been a while since I had attended a wedding where I wasn’t consumed in self absorbed thoughts like, “When Lord, when will it be my turn?” but this marriage celebration was
