Legacy

by Debbie B. Stevens on 07-16-2010 at 06:12 PM
Rummaging through a box of old books and family Bibles, I found my grandparents sign-in book for their wedding. It was 1925. I noticed my grandmother's parents didn’t sign the book- were they there? Did they approve of the marriage? I wondered if she wore a simple gown. How did they meet? I then found a picture of my great-grandmother holding my dad as a baby. At the bottom of the box was a smaller white box, which transported me thirty-six years later. Scribbled on top was my grandfather's name

You Are Beautiful!

by Debbie B. Stevens on 07-02-2010 at 01:51 PM
I was doing a little research on what the world thinks is beauty and I came across this statement “Beauty is self-confidence”. Sorry Sister, if that’s the case then we’re all in trouble! by Debbie B. Stevens on 06-21-2010 at 08:19 PM
My teenage son and I were going for a walk one breezy summer morning. He was telling me about something that was fascinating to him and I was smiling and nodding my head, but my mind was wandering off to all the things I needed to do. As if what was really important was not what was happening at that moment.
Sometimes I can be blinded from today because of my focus on tomorrow.
When our vision becomes so focused on the future moments; major decisions to be made, an illness we are facing,

My Temporary Task

by Debbie B. Stevens on 06-21-2010 at 01:22 PM
This weekend we celebrated my baby’s birthday. My baby is fifteen. I am preparing now for the empty nest in three years. I'm discovering that my life is like that gripping novel you can’t put down. The one where you are emotionally connected to the characters and the events and circumstances surrounding their lives. That novel in which you find yourself anticipating the next page, wanting to rush through to find out what happens next. But as you get to the end you turn the pages more slowly because
