I understand exactly what you are saying. I moved so much as a child because my mother struggled raising 5 children alone. She left our father because he was always in trouble with the law. He was from a family of three police officers. After his father died at age 54, the family blamed him. That sent him down a never-ending path of destruction. He was always in trouble. I was very shy as a child. Now that I am a teacher too, I can really relate to many of my students. I have a great burden for many of them too. Families are struggling.I believe that my life has brought me to a place where I can pray and minister to others . I am writing a book about how God took a little girl whose father was in prison and made her into a women of God. Although my father died in prison, his life was not in vain. I am writing a book that will tell others of God's amazing grace. His life was not wasted, I am living proof of that!

Accountability

by cobbjann on 05-12-2012 at 08:08 PM

"5 more minutes!" I grumble as I hit the snooze button. Right then, the self talk begins.

The playlist includes:
You worked out yesterday.
An hour more of sleep will be good for you.
It's too early!
You can go tomorrow.
Not going, love my pillow too much!

Fortunately for me, my husband knows this self talk game that I play so well. On go the bedroom lights, workout clothes are

Who is Jesus?

by cobbjann on 05-05-2012 at 12:42 PM

WHO IS JESUS TO YOU?

I was 10 years old when I first began thinking about who Jesus was. Next to our apartment complex was a Catholic church. Often I would walk over to the church, open the doors and find a quiet spot to sit. The strangely comforting aroma of that holy place still fills my senses. Quietly resting in that space I chatted with God. In those moments,
Jesus was my confidant.

The summer of my freshman

Help my sink is clogged!

by cobbjann on 05-03-2012 at 10:58 AM
I truly believe that I can fix most things! My mom instilled this "can do" attitude into me. There isn't much that I remember my mom not fixing herself. Partly because we didn't have the money to call someone and partly because there is so much pride in doing it yourself!

Saturday morning I tried to work this out literally! The kitchen sink was clogged. Thinking through my options I mentally made a list: Plunger, Draino, sink snake or pay a plumber.

Jingling Johnny

Rend Collective Experiment

My head is still spinning from the excitement of last night. Friends, Worship, Jingling Johnny and Francis Chan! Need I say more? The music keeps playing in my heart and head, the deep exhortation that Francis gave is pushing me forward and the sight of that Jingling Johnny sent me on a quest to discover more about this unique instrument.

The jingling Johnny looks like a banjo, cowbell, drum set all

Pancakes for Supper

by cobbjann on 04-23-2012 at 11:11 PM

On days like this day, I love my job! Who wouldn't love dressing up, reading a story, and making pancakes with children?

The character in this story finds herself all alone in the the wilderness, with wild animals lurking behind every corner. She uses her clothing as gifts for the animals so that they wouldn't attack her. Her clothing became her protection!

This made me think of Isaiah 61:10

I delight greatly
