I understand exactly what you are saying. I moved so much as a child because my mother struggled raising 5 children alone. She left our father because he was always in trouble with the law. He was from a family of three police officers. After his father died at age 54, the family blamed him. That sent him down a never-ending path of destruction. He was always in trouble. I was very shy as a child. Now that I am a teacher too, I can really relate to many of my students. I have a great burden for many of them too. Families are struggling.I believe that my life has brought me to a place where I can pray and minister to others . I am writing a book about how God took a little girl whose father was in prison and made her into a women of God. Although my father died in prison, his life was not in vain. I am writing a book that will tell others of God's amazing grace. His life was not wasted, I am living proof of that!

Be Still My Soul

by cobbjann on 09-05-2013 at 01:41 PM

Another moment has come upon me. One that I was not wanting or expecting. My mother who has Alzheimer's disease was with me at church. As we were singing a hymn, she became lost in the hymnal, unable to follow along. Her eyes filled with frustration and confusion, eventually she just closed the book.

My heart broke as I saw this once confident woman who loved to sing, frustrated by the very thing she loved! During the next hymn I

Out of the Blue

by cobbjann on 09-02-2013 at 01:31 PM

Beautiful summer night, warm, light breeze and the bike trail was calling us to ride. After trekking for 7 miles we passed a little girl on a bike that was too big for her and then her father who was pulling a sibling in a bike trailer. It was time for a break as witnessed by the drops of sweat that had begun to drip down my back so we decided to turn to the left of the trail. "Let's go over here so we aren't in the way of that family",

What's In a name?

by cobbjann on 08-30-2013 at 10:50 AM

In the news recently a mother wanted to name her son "Messiah". She received an unsatisfactory response from the court. "The word Messiah is a title and it's a title that has only been earned by one person and that one person is Jesus Christ," the judge said.

I applaud the judge's firm response whether or not the ruling stands. This made me think about what is in a name. Do you know what the meaning behind your name

Pressure Washer

by cobbjann on 08-28-2013 at 12:21 PM

This was the day that I was going to tackle the house. Slowly but surely, siding by siding the mildew had grown. Our once white home had turned a lovely shade of green! It was way passed time for some deep cleaning. The only way to achieve the sparkly effect that I was looking for was to bring out the big guns, that's right the pressure washer!

After a few attempts of pulling the starter cord, the engine began to hum right

I am Free

by cobbjann on 03-22-2013 at 11:14 PM

Many of us understand what bondage feels like. We feel like chains may be wrapped around multiple times constricting us with each action we make. I, personally, want to break free from the chains, and to live a life filled with God’s grace.

Our battlegrounds may be different but the thing we have in common is the weighty feeling of being held hostage within our own chains.

Do you think about how you will ever get away from
