I understand exactly what you are saying. I moved so much as a child because my mother struggled raising 5 children alone. She left our father because he was always in trouble with the law. He was from a family of three police officers. After his father died at age 54, the family blamed him. That sent him down a never-ending path of destruction. He was always in trouble. I was very shy as a child. Now that I am a teacher too, I can really relate to many of my students. I have a great burden for many of them too. Families are struggling.I believe that my life has brought me to a place where I can pray and minister to others . I am writing a book about how God took a little girl whose father was in prison and made her into a women of God. Although my father died in prison, his life was not in vain. I am writing a book that will tell others of God's amazing grace. His life was not wasted, I am living proof of that!

I am Free

by cobbjann on 03-22-2013 at 11:14 PM

Many of us understand what bondage feels like. We feel like chains may be wrapped around multiple times constricting us with each action we make. I, personally, want to break free from the chains, and to live a life filled with God’s grace.

Our battlegrounds may be different but the thing we have in common is the weighty feeling of being held hostage within our own chains.

Do you think about how you will ever get away from

The Invitation

My Grace Story part 2

Years had gone by since those first memories had flooded my mind. My life now had a rhythm, an order that was humming along. Kevin and I were now married, had 2 beautiful daughters, and were involved in an exciting ministry to high school students. Life was great!

There had been moments of thinking about the past, but I felt that me and God were working on it. Moreover, Kevin and I spent many hours wading through the feelings of shame and fear

Baby It's Cold Outside

by cobbjann on 01-26-2013 at 03:39 PM

Michigan has finally received the Artic blast of cold air and beautiful snow that winter's in this part of the country are used to. Growing up in Southern California has definitely skewed my idea of cold. Even though we have lived in Michigan for more than six years I still am surprised by people jogging or riding a bicycle when the temperature is less than 20 degrees.

Elementary children don snow pants, boots, scarves, mittens, hats and

Robes of White

by cobbjann on 01-24-2013 at 11:13 PM

Everywhere I looked this morning there was white. White streets, walkways, and driveways. Trees glistening under their clouds of snow and houses topped off with a dollop of the falling flakes. White, white, white, white, white. There was a theme and God spoke to me in the midst of it. "Jann, this is how I see you".

For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more Hebrews 8:12

Humbled, gratefully

Looking for Love

by cobbjann on 01-12-2013 at 10:01 PM
Years ago when I was in middle school I longed for love. Not the average everyday middle school crushes but love. I was searching for it, desperately seeking for what seemed to missing. This search resulted in a variety of troubled situations that I found myself in.The song lyrics are flooding my brain, "Looking for love in all the wrong places".

As I searched for this evasive love in relationships, activities and drinking I found
