Whoever you are, I’m afraid of you.
Always have been. Maybe always will be.
You might not think so if you met me. I’ve made some progress since hiding from people behind my mother’s legs. But not enough.
Because my fear keeps me from talking to you. Being your friend. Apologizing to you. Or forgiving you. But worst of all…
It keeps me from loving you.
And that’s no way to live life. It’s not God’s way, so it shouldn’t be mine.
It’s taken me a lot of years to finally figure out what message God has been trying to teach me all my life. It’s THE MESSAGE of how my life has been changed by Jesus that I have to share–and the one I’m called to live:
DO IT AFRAID.
So I’m going to. You can hold me accountable to my promise right here. Because I’m going to share my stories, all the guts and glory, sweat and tears, faceplants and freakouts.
My friend calls this adventure with God “on the job healing.” I think it will be that and perhaps a whole lot more. God’s just like that. He likes to give you more than you bargained for.
I’m hoping to pick up a few friends along the journey to keep me company, to sweat it out with me, and tell me they understand. Nobody likes to run a race alone.
So join in! Share your story, run your race, learn to love.
