Thank You for Warm Welcome; I Live in South Texas

I am a quiet woman growing each day in the LORD.

Christ is my home. He is the well from which I drink. I became His over 18 years ago. I am 63 so that is actually a small percentage of my life through which I could have walked closely with Him. No matter, He never stopped waiting for me.

I am in a Christ-centered marriage of 18 years to Kenneth. I praise God for him. We have no children.
I feel God's call to be His light in the world in which I am placed. Right now, that seems to focus in the nursing home where my 97 year old mother lives, in my community, and the people I touch. I am grateful for the love God gives to me so I may give it away.

I live in Portland, Texas, USA (across the bay from Corpus Christi). I have taught Women's Sunday School/Bible Study, co-administrated/taught a teen girls' annual conference. I participate in women's Bible studies in church as well as on my own. I am a retired elementary school teacher, having taught in California, Washington, D.C., and have taught older children and adults in Oregon and Texas. I also retired from being a children's librarian here in the public library system in Corpus Christi, a job I thoroughly loved.

I was born into a Navy family and have lived in various places around the USA. I was actually born in San Diego, CA, but must say that I was "born Navy". I have two sisters, both younger than I. One lives in California and the other on the island of Kauai. My Daddy was a Navy doctor for 20 years when death came to him at only 46 in 1960, leaving Mom to raise us girls at young ages of 13, 10, 7. She moved us back to San Diego, CA after his death. Mom co-owned a small retail dress shop in Point Loma, CA. and loved the whole process. Of course, we worked there and got clothes at wholesale! I must admit that I was married early after college but that ended in divorce. I was single for 13 years until the LORD brought Kenneth into my life. I am so very thankful for the graciousness and love I know now. I praise the LORD daily for the life He has given me and the times of hardship have grown me and changed me to be the woman I am today.
