    Homeschool Cirriculum

    Hi there,

Let's talk about what type of material you use when homeschooling. This will help give other ladies ideas if they are looking to change cirriculum or if they have questions. Also let us know how long you have been homeschooling and the ages of your children.

This is our first year homeschooling and we have been using Alpha & Omega LifePacs. My daughter is 13 and in the 6th grade. For next year we are praying about switching over to Alpha & Omega Switched on Schoolhouse. But still praying for the Lord's guidance. We have seen such great changes in our daughter since we started homeschooling and pray that she continues to flourish.
    In Christ's Love,

    Robin

My kids are 8,7,6,5,3,2 and 8 months. Let me tell you, getting it all done can be really tough. My 8 year old is very self motivated and I have been using sunlight with great success for three years now. My 7 year old is also doing sunlight but I think we will switch to something more structured next year. My 6 and 5 year old are doing Calvert kindergarten together and loving it. It is a little more rigid then I prefer but the 6 year old has some learning disabilities and the repetition and easily understood expectations are just what he needs. We use Saxon math for the 7 and 8 year olds and love it.

I teach the younger kids in the morning and the older kids in the afternoon during the little ones nap time. I keep playdou, blocks, finger pain and other such things on hand for the 2 and 3 year old to keep them busy while their siblings learn. I also sometimes put on the Come Read With Me videos to entertain them.

I just began home schooling last year and was looking into Lifepacs. I actually pieced together her curriculumn with God's guidance. I know His hand was upon it because of how everything flowed together so well. The Lord is awesome! As a single mom and with my daughter Hannah going into 5th grade it may be more cost effective to use Lifepacs. What is your opinion on the Lifepacs? Do you think they are challenging? I was also looking at SOS for Spanish.

Any information would be helpful. Lifepacs are 20% off this month and would like to make a decision prayerfully and with some good advice from other moms.

    God Bless!

I homeschool my kids, as well. They really enjoy the curriculum and I feel like I am able to give them a Christ centered education with the added dimension of biblical studies that kids can't get at public schools. I agree that it can be tough, just keep praying for God's guidance and our kids will continue to flourish in a safe environment.

I was homeschooled all the way through (Pre-K - 12) And absolutely loved it! I loved the Saxon Math! And for when I got to high school Apologia Science (Especially Chemistry). With our school district I was able to do duel enrollment and take classes the community college. (Advanced Math at 15, English Composition I at 16 and Pre-Calculus at 17).

I was not a big history fan, but I loved when we did Explorers to 1815 and can still remember all the dates from it (and that was 7 years ago). Another good History curriculum was Mystery of History.

My siblings (ages 16, 11 and 2) use different a different curriculum than my older brother and I used. For Math they both (Older two...Maddie sits and paints or colors...she also has a little ball that has the world map on it and at just 2 years of age can name over 35 countries! ) love to use Teaching Textbooks for math. And Science is a combination. They do a lot of lapbooks which turn out great!
~In the valley of change lies a beauty only to be seen if you pass through it...and a beauty truly appreciated when you make it to the mountain-view~
