I talked to her this week. My sad attempt to comfort her turned into encouragement for me. She said, “ You know… I can see God all in this.” Her mother is not a believer but in the midst of this time of shock and hurt she is reading the devotional ...

I was thinking only of the tasks ahead of me in the afternoon…getting Kailey and the groceries into the car, remembering when to pick up the boys from their after-school activities, getting dinner ready…little to-do items raced their relay-races around my brain. 4. I have a dream

by , 07-22-2011 at 01:19 AM (Lessons learned on this journey)
Most of us are familiar with these four words spoken by Martin Luther King Jr. on that hot August day more than 40 years ago. He spoke with great passion for his dream -- for freedom, for unity, for justice and for brotherhood. He dreamed of changing the world -- for him, for his children and for all of mankind.

Recently I came across the quote, "Everything great on this earth was achieved because someone had a dream and dared to pursue it". This reminded me of Martin ...

  5. This is hard!

    by , 05-02-2011 at 09:54 PM
Recovery is hard work. Plain and simple. I was going to write something totally different today, but I am so focused on recovery right now that that is what I need to concentrate on. You see, I'm doing pretty good. Almost "scary" good. And when I talk to my recovery network, my counselor and my AA Sponsor about it, they are encouraged. They remind me I'm doing so well, because I'm doing the hard work - going to meetings, working the 12 steps with my sponsor, meditating, keeping fresh ...
