”What is the Hole in the Gospel?”

I have a dear friend and this is a question her son, who is a Pastor, asked. My friend had no idea. When she asked me, I had no idea, either. Her son told her this: the hole in the Gospel was Christians that did not read their Bibles. I agreed and thought no more about it until I was lying in bed at about 3 in the morning. That’s when God placed this upon my heart: There are so many Christians who just go to church on Sunday and this is the only time they use their Bibles.

God wants us to know that the Bible is his Word, and to know who He really is, we must stay in His Word. Many people think that just because there are people who do not go to church, that they don’t know anything about their creator. God has shown me that this is not so. There are people who do not even step a foot into a church and they know more about God than some people who go to church every Sunday. Why? Because they read God’s Word.

Jesus said that he could destroy the temple and build it again in three days. He was not talking about a building; he was talking about his own body. Our bodies are God’s temples. We are the Church, and our bodies are just tents that we are living in while we are on this earth. Like the Tabernacle, we should use our bodies to worship our Lord, for it should be an empty vessel waiting for God to fill it so that it can be used for God’s purpose. The only way we can do this is to stay in God’s Word, study it and mediate on it, and let the Holy Spirit guide and teach us. Even when we don’t understand what the Word may be telling us, the more we study it, the more we end up understanding. God has a way of letting us know what we need to know if we do this. Then we can have a wonderful relationship with our Heavenly Father; for God Himself is The Word and He is our best teacher.

Let Jesus be your guide, for He is the only way to the Father and we must have His Word abiding in us so then He can abide in us……….Love Jane

Jane, I agree , this is so crucial. We seem to think that we can skip reading and soaking in the Word and wonder why we start struggling. If we miss breakfast and lunch, get a headache and have no energy we fully understand we have deprived our body of its nourishment. The word of God is more crucial than food. We have to make a decision to stop "getting by" or snacking!!

Amen! It is so true and it really goes right back to the reformation principle of Scripture Alone. We can only know God through His Word. While creation tells us there is a god (general revelation) we can only truly come to know Him through the Bible (specific revelation). He has given us all we need to grow in our relationship with Him in His Word. Everything we need is right there - yet so many people ignore it. Going to church is not enough - we need the solid food of His Word daily.
