Like a delicate purple flower
made of crepe paper,
the unexpected bougainvillea
stood against the gray sky.
It grew diagonally across the brick wall
and the flowers rested, huddled on top.
A light rain is falling,
nourishing the happy vine,
and nourishing my soul.
The rain falls and nourishes the vine
as it nourishes my soul.
The rain falls gently like the Word of God
and makes me whole.
