A promise is a promise....

As summer closes in just a few days and kids return to school, I have to think back to the accomplishments of this season that always has me puzzled....days that drag on and seem to bring enjoyment and boredom to children whose schedules are lacking...to parents who watch their calendar intently, waiting for the back-to-school sale ads and supply lists.

All of the waiting and out of nowhere comes the thoughts "Where did summer go? It's almost over!" Followed by "What did I accomplish?" My mind spins as I remember the promises I made to myself, to God and to others. Vacation? Check. More exercise? If I count weeding in my garden, half-check. Spending time with my husband who has a crazy schedule? Check. Making memories with my kids? Check. (hopefully good ones.)

What about falling before the throne and humbling myself in the presence of God, the Perfect Promise Keeper. Praising Him for life in a new season and being still before Him to discover more of His unfailing love. It's everywhere. In the flowers and the hot wind. In the laughter of children. in the embrace of a spouse. Check.

Hanging on the wall of my newly remodeled bathroom (check) is my daughter's masterpiece of an anchor and just one word following it: hope. This summer our world has seen hopelessness in the form of terror, tragedy and abounding sin. But as children of the most High God we are told to look heavenward at where our help and hope come from. To the One who promises the nover leave us nor forsake us...our anchor onto which we hold to keep from drowning in depression, destruction and devastation. Christ has overcome the world! (check!) Praise Him!

So glad to meet you Jacquie...don't know about you, but when I put something on paper rather than just an image in my head, God blesses and I am so encouraged that I'm not alone. So glad to be a part of CWO...blessings to you! Shelly/ClumsyBlonde
