Enough

Ice Crystals on old Treesb along Dirt RoadOh weary and worn out Soul, fall into the loving arms of Jesus. Like a child reaching for the hand of her father, lift up your shaking and fearful hand to God.  Oh precious child, just believe.  Look up to the Maker of heaven and earth, and find comfort, find love, find all that your heart is searching for.

He is enough.

These are more than words my sister; they are more than a neat little Christian sentiment that we throw at each other when our worlds are shaking.  No, sweet one full of doubt, these three words are truth.  A truth strong enough to anchor our lives to when the winds are swirling and the waves are crashing in on every side.  Hear it, feel it, choose to believe it:

Jesus is enough.

Oh wanderer, turn to the Word, to the eternal Word that will stand forever, and find your way home.  Its power can break any chain that binds you.  Its truth will shatter all doubt.  Its strength will fill your weak heart with the power to carry on.  Child, in its pages, you will find Love that willingly laid down His hand to be nailed to a cross, so He could take hold of yours.  Will you continue to hold back as He reaches out for you?   Will you persist in turning away as He looks on you with love and forgiveness?  Will you resist the longing in your heart to turn to Him, to find all you are searching for?  Or will you fall to your knees, right here, right now in the middle of the storm and see the One who commands the winds and the waves to be still, who says to them: “Enough!”

Oh Free One of the Most High God, you know the truth.  It is deep in your bones crying to get out.  Choose to be free from this prison of your own making.  Take down the walls you have built up around you and run to Jesus.  You cannot protect yourself from the winds and the waves, just run to Jesus.  You cannot protect yourself from the unknown that tomorrow brings, so run to Jesus.  You cannot even muster up the strength for today, so run.  Walk.  Fall to your knees.  Simply turn your eyes upon your Saviour if that is all you have the strength left to do.

He is waiting with open arms for his Beloved.

Loved One, know this: nothing can separate you from the love of God in Christ Jesus.  You have not sinned too much; you are not lost beyond His sight; you have not wandered too far or gone beyond His reach.  There is no place you can go, no sin too deep, and there nothing coming against you that is too much for your Father to handle:

What then shall we say to these things?  If God is for us, who can be against us?  He who did not spare his own Son, but gave Him up for us all, how will He not also with Him graciously give us all things?  Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect?  It is God who justifies.  Who is to condemn?  Christ Jesus is the one who died ~ more than that, who was raised ~ who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us.  Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?  As it is written, “For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.”

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.  For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:31-39)

Sinner, repent and return to your Master for His glory and for your good.  Forgiveness is waiting.  Comfort is waiting.  Peace, joy, and strength are there.  Turn to your God.  He is faithful and He is enough!

Comfort, comfort my people, says your God.
Speak tenderly to Jerusalem,
and cry to her that her warfare is ended,

that her iniquity is pardoned,
that she has received from the Lord’s hand
double for all her sins.

A voice cries:
“In the wilderness prepare the way of the Lord;
make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
Every valley shall be lifted up,
and every mountain and hill be made low;
the uneven ground shall become level,
and the rough places a plain.
And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed…

(Isaiah 40:1-5a)
