Adoption Journey

I am currently in Kazakhstan adopting a baby boy. I have been here 47 days today and the past two weeks I have been here alone as my husband had to return to the US and go back to work. This adoption experience has been the hardest thing I have had to face in my life with the exception of the death of my brother when I was younger.

When we arrived we began bonding with a baby boy named Stas. We were ecstatic! We loved him so and were so happy to celebrate his first birthday with him in the orphanage. The next day, a bomb was dropped on us--we were told his mother returned and wants him! We were devastated. My husband wanted to get on the next flight and go home. I prayed and prayed for strength and after a few hours we were asked to select another child! My husband could not bear going back to the orphanage and for three days I had to be strong enough for both of us. They showed us three children available for adoption and I knew none were meant for us. The next day they showed us a beautiful, healthy baby boy and we accepted him.

We had to start the bonding period all over again. We focused all of our energy on the positive and forged ahead. We went to court and our adoption was granted! My husband flew out the next day. I was staying behind during the 15 day waiting period and eagerly anticipating bringing our son back to the apartment for the final leg of our journey. On the fifteenth day - the day I was supposed to bring him to the apartment - I got the shock of my life. This child's mother returned and was contesting the adoption! She is 18 years old, raised in an orphanage herself, has no home or job and she is pregnant again. There is no way she can care for this child. She wants hm to stay in the orphanage until she can get on her feet again. I decided to stay and fight for our son. I will go before a higher court here in Kazakhstan on April 17th. Please pray that our adoption is granted and this nightmare will end. Pray that the court does what is best for this child and place him in a stable , loving home - in our arms.

Yours truly,
Dawn De Lorenzo

Comments:
Father, I pray for this adoption situation with Dawn asking that you would bring clarity and peace to her family. I know that lives of children are so delicate, and so we can only ask the best for this child. Father please intervene in this situation and place this child in the best home. Dawn has a heart and a home for this child, and so I ask that if it be your will, then he will go home with them soon. I pray that the blessings of Motherhood will be granted to Dawn.

I will be lifting you up in my prayers, I pray that all things will work out for the good.

Praying for the best out come for everyone :) Hugs from home.

Father, i could just imagine how heart breaking it is to bond with a child only to be taken away from him soon after. i've experienced the "loss" twice when my own children died early even before i've seen them. Father, what's happening to dawn is the same thing. Father, i pray for dawn and her husband. give them the strength to endure this trial. may your will be done in their lives. Father, if it is your will for them to adopt this little baby boy, make a way for them to do so. let them win this battle. if not, Father, lead them to where your will is. i pray, Father, that you will comfort this couple even now as we all pray. i also would like to lift up to you the mother of that little baby boy. give her wisdom to do what is right. Father, you know best. make a way for all of them. i pray all these, in Jesus' name, amen.

Dawn - As an adoptive mom myself, I can only offer you my prayers and my hopes that this child will become yours. Please let us know the outcome of this ordeal.

Praying, my sister adopted from Russia, I know how difficult things can be. (((hugs)))

Lord you know the situation...Father protect and keep this family...thank you for their willingness to take in a child who needs a family...bless them Father...give them favor with the judges and courts in Kazakhstan..

God help this couple who are trying so hard to parent this baby boy.
